Blemishes

Blemishes are marks or areas of discoloration on the skin. In some cases, acne such as whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples may also be referred to as blemishes.

What are blemishes?

Many people are born with or inherit blemishes. They’re commonly referred to as port wine stains. However, other blemishes are man-made and can be troublesome. These are usually associated with some form of acne.

The blemish caused in acne is a result of clogged pores in the epidermis of the skin are many times are caused by toiletries and cosmetics, particularly night creams, foundations, and moisturizers.

Non-comedogenic refers to a class of cosmetics which are less likely to cause blemishes. It’s similar to reading the label on a can of food. You need to read before you buy. Becoming an educated consumer is the first step in the prevention of blemishes.

Blemishes on face can also form as a result of environmental factors. Skin irritants from the air to aerosol sprays can result in the formation of blemishes.

What are blemishes?
