What Are Vitamins and Minerals?
Your body is dependent upon both vitamins and minerals to achieve peek performance.
But do you know which foods provide you with the optimal vitamin output?
Some foods provide more vitamins and minerals than others, and as such we may be required to take a vitamin supplement to make up for that difference.
Types of Vitamins:
There are two categories: fat soluble and water soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins — A, D, E, and K — are stored by your body and dissolve in fat.
Water-soluble — C and the B-complex vitamins (such as vitamins B6, B12, niacin, riboflavin, and folate) — use water to help dissolve them to enhance the absorption process of the body. These are not absorbed by the body.
Vitamin C or B is the perfect example of this as it passes through the human body in the form of urine. That’s why these vitamins need to be replenished!
Plants and animals provide our vitamins ans thus they are considered organic.
Minerals, on the other hand, are the by-products of the absorption process carried out by plants. They are also eaten by animals. Thus, minerals are inorganic elements that come from the soil and water.
What are the uses of minerals?
In order for the human body to stay fit and healthy, it requires larger amounts minerals, like calcium to continue the growing process.
What types of minerals do we need in our bodies?
We need minerals such as chromium, copper, iodine, iron, selenium, and zinc. These are referred to as trace minerals because they are only needed in small increments each day.

Vitamins and minerals enhance the immune system, facilitate the growth process and assist the cells and organs of the human body to complete its routine. Carrots are a great example of substances called carotenoids which converts into vitamin A that helps in the prevention of eye problems.
Vitamin K in known to help in the clotting of the skin, most notably the epidermis and the dermis. This is what causes cuts and scrapes to stop bleeding quickly.
Where is Vitamin K found? You can find it in green leafy vegetables, broccoli, and soybeans. And to have strong bones, you need to eat foods such as milk, yogurt, and green leafy vegetables, which are rich in the mineral calcium.
