What is sucralose?

Sweetener’s have gotten a lot of publicity lately but Sucralose has been popular under another name, Splenda. Sucralose makes use of newly attached chlorine molecules to develop a sweetener that’s also created from table sugar and sucrose.

Do you know what the caloric intake of sucralose is?

Zero! Now that’s because ingested sucralose can’t be broken down by the your body. Scientific studies have shown that sucralose is 600 times as sweet as sucrose, twice as sweet as saccharin, and three times as sweet as aspartame.

But, when heated sucralose will not break down like aspartame and doesn’t have all the bad side



effects to go along with it.

This makes it ideal for kitchen projects such as baking or making products or foods which need a little longer shelf life. Safety, stability, and taste separate sucralose from other commercial sweeteners.

Is sucralose safe?

The safety of all sweeteners has been closely debated for years. Medical, scientific and regulatory authorities have found that it’s safe for use as a food ingredient. Sucralose and diabetes also work well together. This is because it will not adversely impact blood glucose or insulin levels.

Sucralose Dangers

Is sucralose safe? It has been conclusively studied and has an exemplary safety record.

What are the sucralose side effects?

Toxicity: None.

Carbohydrate metabolism: no side effects

Blood Glucose control: No effect on short or long-term

Serum Insulin levels: None! Individuals with diabetes can ingest sucralose.

Calories or carbohydrates: None! It is not recognized by the body as a carbohydrate and is not metabolized or otherwise broken down for energy

The bottom line is that sucralose can be eaten without any adverse health consequences.  Now, as with any food, vitamin, mineral, supplement, it is always better to error on the safe side and not binge or overdose. But the scientific studies demonstrate, and regulatory agencies agree, that sucralose is safe for the human body.
